Glasgow Rowing Club was formed on the 4th December 1983 by the amalgamation of the Glasgow Argonauts Boat Club (founded in 1924) and The City of Glasgow Rowing Club (founded in 1965 although this club was formed from the Glasgow Printers Rowing Club who themselves were founded in the weary 1900s).
When GRC was formed, the club was based in the East Boathouse in the Glasgow Green. The club then decided to move the boathouse to the site in Silverfir Place in the Gorbals where it presides to this day, thanks to a lot of hard work by the founding members and funding from the National Lottery and Sports Scotland.
The Club colours are Yellow - taken from the Glasgow Argonauts Boat Club, Red - taken from the City of Glasgow Rowing Club, and Black.
Through the years Glasgow Rowing Club have had many success in Rowing, including success on the World Stage with World, European Champion Polly Swann (also won Silver in the 2016 Olympics), World Bronze Medallists Lindsay Dick and Sam Scrimgeour.
