Scottish Rowing Junior Summer Regatta

The Scottish Rowing Junior Summer Regatta was held at Strathclyde Park on Saturday 5th June. In almost perfect conditions – sunny and not too windy- 8 Juniors and their coaches and helpers arrived early to get set up. The J14 boys John and Daniel were rowing first in 2x time trial and then Final C which they won convincingly.  Next the J14 girls Natalie and Jessica, Lucy and Aili raced in 2x. Time trial first and then side by side racing. This was a very strong field and they were in the C final but rowed well and with determination right to the line. They then switched into J14 4x+ with Hannah coxing and did extremely well as there were some last minute changes to the crew due to illness and they had never rowed in this combination, let alone raced! They put huge effort into their rowing and were exhausted at the end. The senior girls then raced J16 1x with Stefani coming 3rd overall. Both girls raced well and showed great technique and strength in their rowing. They then raced J16 2x coming 3rd overall. This was a fantastic result as again due to illness they were a last minute combination and had not expected to row together.Everyone represented the club wonderfully with smiles, huge effort and positive attitudes. This was their first regatta and first experience of racing so a huge learning curve but with very good results.Thank you to everyone for rowing so well and to the parents and coaches for their hard work in getting them to the start line!
