21/11/04Inverness 4s Head RESULTS. Wins for Johnny - and for the Vet 4, once the times are corrected!

Daniel Prescott kept up the good work at the GB junior trials in Boston this weekend, providing the fastest performance in his category.... well done!

4/11/04 New GRC Captain
The committee has also undergone changes.

Most significantly, we have a new captain: Henry Westwood was elected, unopposed. Ann Carrigan and Bob Scott have also joined the committee.

24/10/04 GB Trials
Glasgow Rowing Club had a strong showing at the GB squad trials in Boston this weekend, providing the best of the Scottish performances..... as usual.

- i.e. get the nominations to Stephen one week BEFORE the actual AGM.

A big 'well done' to Daniel Prescott, who set the fastest single times in both divisions (Div1 Div2) at Strathclyde Park on Saturday, winning J16 1x on the way.
....don't know why they kept it to themselves all this time!

We had two crews in the Vet event in 2003 and 2004. At the moment, even one looks unlikely in 2005.

26/9/042 Wins for GRC at Durham on Saturday
A fairly successful foray over the border resulted in wins in Vet Novice 1x (Peter Trenchard) and Vet C 2-. The VC 4+ made the final of their event, but were narrowly beaten.

23/9/04 The next Glasgow Rowing Club Committee Meeting will be held on 6th October 2004, in the Club room at 7:30pm. Please have any items for the agenda to by 3rd October.

Malcolm has kindly provided a timetable (click here) of the rowing schedule and the athletics schedule in Athens, for those of us who are ready for some pre-breakfast TV or internet action....
.....and not to be outdone, this from Paul Mackie: "attached is the GB team for info for anyone who is interested. I will be there on holiday - hopefully to see Katherine Grainger atop the podium with a gold medal round her neck!"

Lindsay made it to Sunday but lost her semi-final at Women's Henley.

Meanwhile, Al was 2nd in his event at Marlow, in 7:04 !

(footnote: Henley qualifiers now announced.)

It was business as usual for Anne and Beth at Nithsdale however, winning Res2 doubles and also mixed fours, with TK and Fergus and coxed by Katrina. First win for Katrina, who also got through a round of J12 Aquajogs. I wonder if she employed her usual tactics?

19/6/04 Gorbals Fair -
Glasgow Rowing Club took part in the 2004 Gorbals Fair with a float manned (and wo-manned) by club members demonstrating their skills on indoor rowers. The new sculling boat 'Adelphi' was also proudly on display. (photos soon)

Scottish Champs Bar; Helpers required for 12/13 June. Two hour shift maximum. between 11am and 6.30 pm.
Boathouse Security; Could all key holders who require a new mortice lock key
- when we intend to resume locking the door.
Entry fees for Champs;
All members MUST pay their entry fees by Wed.9^th . He will not be collecting cash on the day. Our Captain will withdraw the entries of all those who have not paid by then.

Sun. Update -
Congratulations to Al and Ryan, who won in 6:44.
Lindsay finished 4th in her final.
Quad came 5th.

Sat. Update -
Al made the final of M Op 1x; finished 3rd.
In W Op 1x, Lindsay was the fastest sculler not to qualify.
Her event was won - easily - by the current Olympic champion!

8/5/04 CARC Regatta
A pretty low-key event.
The highlights undoubtedly came from double-double wins from Beth and Anne, with Daniel also winning over the long course in M Ju18 sculls. (no race pictures - sorry).

Long Distance Small Boats Head
Saturday 27th March 2004

Another good day's racing on the full 5000m Clyde course saw
Ryan Slate (SUBC) and
Lindsay Dick (GRC)
win the overall prizes for fastest men's and women's crews in Division 1.

In Division 2, it was a Glasgow University double (well, two) as
Johnny and Chris Logan took the men's prize, while
Alex Lomas and Holly Kirwan were first women home.
