'Boathouse Extension' - Progress

These photographs were taken on Saturday 30th September.

Bill grinding....
...you should see him bump!
Bill is seen here in the process of removing the old,
corroded, lock-boxes on the container before fixing on
the new ones he has fabricated.

100T crane seen from the riverside fence
Shortly after 9 a.m. and the 100T crane is being
made ready.....
I had to stand against the waterside fence
in order to get the whole thing in the picture.

These photographs were taken on Monday 28th August.

Unfortunately, all hands were required to help manoeuvre the 'extension' into place, so there are no photographs of it actually being moved.

The first couple of pictures are just to give an idea of the size of the 100-ton crane that was required to perform the lift. It made it in and out through the car park gates with about four inches to spare on either side.

'before' - the container was in the car park
You can just see the
corner of the container
in front of the crane.

In the 'before' photographs, you can just see the container parked in front of the crane, against the fence opposite the clubhouse.

a rare thing - Bill in awe
.....Scott is the driver/operator of this beast. Bill
Mac is the driver/operator of All Things.
100T crane from the boathouse door
This was taken from just next to the main entrance
of the clubhouse, again in order to get the
whole thing in the picture.

'after', showing the container in position and the crane still extended
Mission accomplished: This was taken from
the extreme end of the car park.

The actual lift involved swinging the container over the steps down from the car park, around and over the apron in front of the clubhouse and onto the previously-prepared site.

GL & Bill Mac discuss progress
View from the boathouse main doors: GL and Bill Mac survey
progress and make further plans.....

These photographs were taken on Saturday 6th August.

A few keen individuals had responded to Bill's request for help clearing the site.

As you can see, they were astonishingly effective!

(Sorry about the poor picture quality - moby snaps)

View from the car park: well done to all the 'gardeners' - this is what
you achieved on Saturday morning!

Cunning little vixen?
Our neighbour stopped by to check that we aren't encroaching
on the common boundary.
