Every year, Glasgow Rowing Club runs at least two events on the River Clyde.
In recent years, these have been our Fours Head of River held in November, and a Small Boats Head of River, held in March or April. Both of these races are run over a 5000 metre course, from Belvedere straight to Glasgow Green.
GRC 'Silver' Regatta
(Click on the title above for results of the regatta, or read a brief report on the news page.)
In 2008 we have returned to an old formula and will be running
the first regatta of the Scottish racing season on Saturday
5th April. The 'Silver' regatta is in recognition that
this year sees the 25th anniversary of Glasgow Rowing Club having
been formed by the amalgamation of Glasgow Argonauts Boat Club and City
of Glasgow Amateur Rowing Club.
The regatta course will be over approximately 1200 metres, from
Cowan's Bend to the GRC Boathouse.
The GRC Small Boats Head that was scheduled for February 2nd was replaced in the SARA Calendar by the Strathclyde University BC Small Boats Head.
Prior to the 'Silver' Regatta, our most recent event was the 2007 Fours Head, again the largest single rowing race in Scotland, with fours and quad sculls containing almost 500 competitors entered in 2 divisions.
