Please read the instructions below carefully. Any crew that ignores these instructions will be liable to race penalties.

RACE INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPETITORS

  1. Competitors must arrive at the start and be ready to race at least 2 minutes before the time of their race or risk disqualification. An absolute minimum of 10 minutes should be allowed if boating from GRC, more if boating further down river.
  2. Crews boating at GRC MUST travel downstream towards the King's Bridge before turning and crossing the river. There is a buoy downstream from the landing steps to mark the end of the restricted area. Every crew must row beyond that marker before turning.
    This is a safety issue, to keep crews well away from other crews finishing their races and as such will be rigorously enforced by Umpires - you have been warned!
  3. Crews must travel to the start on the north bank (opposite bank from GRC ) and use the north arch of both bridges. Crews proceeding to the start must keep well clear of racing crews.
  4. An umpire below Shawfield bridge in contact with the start will control crews progressing upstream from there and the umpire's instructions must be obeyed.
  5. The start is just below the bend at Cowan's and crews should use the centre arch of both bridges although the crew on the south bank may use the south arch of Polmadie Bridge (white footbridge) without penalty.
  6. Crews must observe the buoys on the course to allow their opponents to use their proper course. The buoys immediately prior to Polmadie Bridge indicate the line of the bridge abutments and are not marking the course.
  7. The finish is approximately 50m upstream of GRC Boathouse.
  8. ALL competitors are reminded to have their Competition Licence available for punching in the event of achieving a qualifying win. Failure to produce a card may lead to a prize being withheld.
